The Sorcerer's Stone was published in the UK by Bloomsbury Children's Books in June 1997. It was published in the American version in the USA in September 1998 by Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic Press. By summer 2000, the first three books had sold over 35 million copies in 35 languages and earned approximately §480 million. Since the Potter novels have been on the market, paperback sales of children's books have increased by 24 percent and hardcover sales by 11 percent. So Harry has stimulated interest in reading. |
