The Sorcerer's Stone is a novel. There will be seven. They are fictional. Each novel is a part of an ongoing saga that describes a year at a wizard school.

Novels are fictional texts. But here there are also factual elements in them. These novels are fantasies - books that depend largely on imaginative possibilities not found in real life.

There is a fundamental theme of good versus evil in the form of confrontations between Harry and Lord Voldemort. But there are many other themes such as racism, loyalty, bravery, truth and power of love.

A theme is communicated through the characters, plot and setting. It is the central idea or message that an author conveys in a book.

The novels include both direct and indirect references and allusions to Greek and Roman mythology. Norse and other cultural mythologies are also suggested.
There are legendary, fairy tale and historical elements.

Although the first novel includes an adventure. the book's primary purpose is to establish a framework for readers to recognize the characters, settings and rules that will continue in future volumes of the series.
